About the Class
Childbirth is a life changing experience — childbirth classes should be too. In my 10-week course, parents will engage in discussions and activities that nourish mother and baby. Classes cover topics such as nutrition, exercise and stress management. Parents will have the opportunity to participate in yoga, massage and meditation practice.
Each two-hour meeting will help parents to discover what is happening to their baby and themselves throughout each stage of pregnancy. As a labor preparedness course, parents will explore the physiological changes that take place throughout the different stages of labor and will learn coaching styles, coping methods and relaxation techniques that can be used for a natural childbirth.
Parents will also learn of the medical interventions that are sometimes necessary or requested during labor and delivery. Additionally, the 10-week course addresses maternal and postpartum care, breastfeeding and the evolution of your new family.
Because I feel that the birth of a baby is a life changing event and happens only once in the life of that one baby, class size is limited to no more than 5 couples. In this way, I can ensure each couple will receive personal and individualized attention to help them best prepare for the upcoming birth. I encourage you to call at any time to discuss your questions and/or concerns.
Frequently Asked Questions
- When should I begin classes?

- How many people will be in the class?
- Small, intimate groups are preferable. Class size is limited to five mothers and coaches.
- How often do we meet?
- The course will meet once a week, from 7-9 p.m.
- How much does the class cost?
- The 10-week course is $300. A $100 deposit is required to hold space in the class. Balance is due at the first class meeting.
- What is the difference between the Bradley Method® and other “Prepared Childbirth” methods?
- As a Bradley® teachers, we help couples to find what is comfortable for them in labor. Other methods seek to control the sensations of labor with an emphasis on distraction away from labor; Bradley® emphasized tuning-in to labor and emphasizing relaxed, regular, deep abdominal breathing and relaxation throughout labor. By tuning-in to your body a woman is in a better position to decrease her pain during labor thus making labor easier and faster.
- Why should I have Natural Childbirth?
- Natural childbirth is inherently safer for both mother and baby and has a more positive affect on family bonding. Natural childbirth is also, in most cases, easier and shorter than medicated births. Natural childbirth mothers recover from birth faster than medicated mothers and also have (in most cases) an easier time of breastfeeding and less postpartum depression.
